PSC Receives All on DEC Advocates of the Year Award for Volunteering with Lubbock State Supported Living Center
PSC received the All on DEC Advocates of the Year award from the Texas Health and Human Services Commission on Monday, July 13, for volunteering with the Lubbock State Supported Living Center including volunteer work at the Lubbock State School’s turkey leg booth at the South Plains Fair, one of their most significant annual fundraisers, and the Adopt-a-Tree Christmas gifting. PSC has participated in Adopt-a-Tree for the past 20 years. PSC’s volunteers continue their relationship with LSSLC through many miscellaneous events throughout the year and is currently organizing a golf tournament fundraiser.
“It is an ‘all hands on deck’ award as they call it,” said Sandra Anderson of LSSLC. “This one was for advocacy. We felt like Parkhill, Smith and Cooper has been an advocate for our facility since the very beginning. Joe Rapier, Sr. was the architect on one of our buildings and then Joe Rapier was on the board, and now we have Joey Vasquez, Kristi Laverty and Jillian Nava on the board.”
