Jaymie is the reception, project assistant and funding liaison in the Las Cruces office. She is the first face you see when you enter the Las Cruces office. She is your go-to when you need assistance in the Las Cruces office. She is from Las Cruces, says she does not have a volume knob, and hates bugs of all kinds. However, she can’t smash them, she has to kill them with hairspray, due to her bad aim.

Tell us a little about yourself. I grew up in El Paso until I was 15, then moved to California (Bay Area) and was there for 12 years and 4 years ago I decided to take a leap and move to Las Cruces on a whim. I have family out here and things were not on the up and up in Cali so it seemed like the best idea at the time. It was fun and scary and probably the best thing I ever did. I am having a blast here with my family and friends, old and new. It works for me and I have a job that I can really appreciate!

Before working at PSC, what was the most unusual/interesting job you’ve ever had? I worked for Big 5 for a few years and I’d say it was the most interesting because one, I am not really a sporty/toughy type girl, I am pretty girly. But it was fun and I learned a lot and I had one of the best bosses I’ve ever had.

How did you first learn about PSC? On a whim…I had just quit another job and I had to go to my church to talk to someone there and as I was leaving he mentioned his buddy Eric had said they were looking for a receptionist/part time person here and that if I knew anyone that may be interested to let him know. Well I was interested! I got more information from his buddy and not even a week later I was interviewing with Matt. God knew what he was doing.

If you could switch jobs with anyone else within PSC, who would it be and why? I would switch with Kristin Thomas! Maybe I should bite my tongue! Although I know/imagine how incredibly busy she is, she always seems to have fun with everything she does and with everything that is thrown at her. And the busy part is ok, keeps you on your toes!

Tell us a little bit about your family. My little family is now my daughter and me! And our dog Charli. And I love it. We have challenging days but we mostly have fun, love filled days. We stay busy visiting aunts and uncles and cousins and friends as often as we can. The rest of my family, my mom, dad and brother and sister-in-law are still in Cali (I say “still” in hopes that one day they will decide to come this way!) and I miss them all the time but we get to see them at the very least once a year.

Tell us three things most people don’t know about you. 1) In middle school I wanted to try out for basketball, my mom laughed and said “can you even dribble”. 2) I am obsessed with bags, like tote bags, hand bags, I’ve been called the bag lady from time to time. 3.) I’d rather do my own nails than get them done, it’s relaxing to me.

What is one thing you can’t live without? My daughter!
